INFORMATION ABOUT SALT CREEK BEACH
Just south of Ritz Carlton Dr, a pedestrian gate, open 24 hours, leads through the
Ritz Carlton Hotel grounds to a paved path along the bluff above Salt Creek Beach.
The path, which skirts the southern perimeter of the grounds, has numerous
benches andoverlooks, providing views of gray whale migration routes, Catalina
Island, and the coastline. Bluff Park has picnic tables, barbeques, restrooms, and a snack bar.
The ranger who oversees Salt Creek is so excited to have us organize a beach cleanup.
Following the Easter Vacation—-there were hundreds of visitors to the beach.
This is a lot of debris that has gathered and needs picking up. There are 7.5 miles of beach waiting for us.
Restrooms –Restrooms are in the parking lot for the beach as well as adjacent to Bluff Park.

What to do with Trash? Secure the bag and place it on the asphalt trail that runs
along the entire length of the beach. Place the trash bag next to the trash can whenever possible.
Where do we Need to Focus the Cleanup? There is ice plant along both sides of
the asphalt trail. This is a collection point for cans, bottles, plastic etc. Please scour
through the ice plant and pull out any debris.
Beach Area: —-All along the beach area there is sea weed, debris and wood that
has washed ashore. This needs to be cleaned up. The sea weed is usually full of
plastic caps, spoons. etc. There is sea weed near where the waves wash in located
below ashelf of sand. This needs to stay as it supports birds, wild life and small sea creatures.
